Turin
– October 16th/21st
www.cinemambiente.it
The
Environmental Film Festival was founded in Turin in 1998 with the
idea to promote a heightened awareness of crucial environmental issues
through cinematic works. Another important component of the Festival is
the opportunity to see the past year’s best films that explore
environmental situations from diverse points of view and enrich the
experience by engaging audience discussion on the film’s topics during
the Festival or when on tour to communities and schools.
To our mind, the environmental film genre comprises a broad
spectrum from television documentaries to animated cartoons on
pollution, enquiry films into deforestation and illegal eco-business,
from war documentaries to the poetic works.

their symbolic, conceptual or sensory relationship with the cosmos and
the uncertainty it represents.

the indefinite is the most complex abstraction to analyze.

The project that Neto has created especially for MACRO Hall is a large
installation that takes up the entire area of the Museum’s glazed
gallery, forming a sort of floating architecture with organic and floral
shapes that invite the visitor to go through and interact with them. The
sculpture, which is attached to the gallery’s glass roof trusses, is
suspended about one metre from the ground.
The Lycra contains ground spices: pepper, cumin, cloves, ginger and
curcuma. The almost anaesthetising aroma of the spices totally envelop
our sense of smell, conjuring up familiar or distant flavours and
memories, just as the sculptural forms invite us to touch and feel the
work with our hands, and listen in silence

The
exhibition tells the story of the Etruscan civilization in Lazio and
describes its extraordinary level of achievement through the development
of its main urban centers.
Veii, Cerveteri, Vulci and Tarquinia were four cities that began life
with many of their more ancient features stemming from common roots,
only later going on gradually to differentiate from one another both in
terms of their artistic output and in more general terms of culture and
worship, of life style and of trading practices.
The individual
character of these four cities in southern
Etruria
is illustrated by a selection of some of the most important works of art
from each locality, many of which will be on public display for the very
first time.

Collezione Maramotti – Max Mara Old Factory
Reggio Emilia Until October 26th
www.collezionemaramotti.org
Two
large canvases on Casa Malaparte, icon of Italy’s Modernist
architecture, by artist Enoc Perez from Puerto Rico, are now on exhibit
in a space dedicated to commissioned projects by young artists, which
will be part of the permanent collection.
It is not by chance that the first temporary exhibition of the Maramotti
Collection – mostly focusing on painting – presents such artworks which
seem questioning the modernity of this language, a theme strongly
present in the invited artist’s work.
Enoc Perez builds his painting: he does not use brushes to make his
artworks, but a complex process composed of overlapping layers of
colours developed in a truly original fashion. His painting technique is
strongly consistent with the images present in his works and the
suggestions they evoke, symbols of beauty and power which could not or
knew not how to keep their promises and convey a feeling of nostalgic
delusion.
